Another Supreme Court Justice is being selected in this country. While the Senate was interviewing the candidate, they were asked to define a woman. The candidate would not answer the question.
Now our statement here is not political, but rather moral. It is a sad day in this country when we find someone cannot answer a question as simple as defining a man or a woman. Even more concerning is not just anyone was asked, but someone who the world describes as being intelligent and educated.
We are reminded of Romans 1:22 “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools” The world puffs up people as being wise, however, in God’s eyes, they are fools. This world is in its last days of self-rule. Our Lord Jesus is preparing to return. We see the signs: wars, rumors of wars, sickness, earthquakes. What are we to do?
In Matthew 24:3, Jesus was asked what signs would be of His coming.
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
Jesus, before responding to what signs would be of his return, stated the following in verse 4:
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
The very first thing stated about the end of time is not signs, wonders or other clues. Rather, to beware you do not fall into deception. Deception is believing something to be true that is not true. Jesus is telling us we need to be on guard so that we do not believe a lie for the truth. We are seeing great deception during our times. There can be one event reported multiple different ways. Which one is true? Then, one of the most basic questions is asked, what is a woman? to which they cannot answer. What is this? It’s deception at its finest.
Pontius Pilate once asked Jesus “What is truth?”. The sad part about this scenario is he did not stay to get an answer. Even today, many will wonder what truth is, but they won’t look in God’s Word to get an answer.
In these last days, to ensure we are not deceived, we need to get in the Word of God more than ever. Yet we see Churches canceling services, becoming more of an entertainment venue than a house of prayer, and a basic lack of understanding on the Word of God. It’s time to reevaluate our priorities. Jesus said to “Take heed that no man deceive you.” How are we going to ensure we know the truth? There’s only one way to find out – study the Word.
And by the way, here is the easiest answer to the question – What is a woman?
